Skepticism is extremely important in the sciences: research is subject to vetting, studies are replicated to see if they produce the same results, etc. This RLE is no different. New studies are viewed with a certain degree of skepticism until other researchers have a deeper look into the methodology, the data gathered, whether the data supports any conclusions made, etc.
