This type of article (and the research) will have vastly different effects on readers sometimes more due to personal bias than the content itself. Supporters of gay rights may gain confidence in this research because it gives weight to the “homosexuality is natural” elements of their beliefs. Opponents of gay rights may find their trust in science undermined since it contradicts their own views. More extreme opponents might accuse the scientists of following a liberal agenda to try and create support for homosexuality.
